Leading Alaska in a Global Movement
Special Olympics Alaska’s overall direction comes from a 25-member board of directors. A volunteer body, the board is comprised of legislators, corporate and community leaders, business professionals, educators, sports experts, caring citizens and Special Olympics athletes. Their role is to develop and monitor results of broad policies that govern implementation of organizational plans and purposes.
Special Olympics Alaska Board of Directors are asked to:
Place a high priority on attending board meetings.
Assist in fund-raising activities, and agree to participate in at least one major project each year.
Ensure the financial success of the program.
Form 990 Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax
Participate in an annual strategic planning review, board self-evaluation, and board development workshops and other educational programs designed to enhance board member skills.
